Wanna share some stuff with you guys.

As you guys know, there are tons of presentations to be done in uni... tons of them.. been observing how many people do their presentations and I guess there are many points that we can learn from those that are rather 'seasoned' and perhaps learn not to repeat thost mistakes that the 'rookies' make...

1) Be sure of your product.

- nothing beats you being 101% confident about your own product (can be an idea/a concept or watever you are presenting). Know what you are doing and be prepared to take on any questions that your audience might post to you. I think its rather crap wihen you ask some ppl "why do you choose this font for this design" and they reply unshamelessly "oh.. cox I couldnt find any other fonts to use". pls. then i suggest you dont even bother doing the design in the 1st place if you donno why you are doing it. every element counts in a design.

2) Be proud of your product.

- its your hardwork and you gotta be proud of it yourself and love it before you can convinence others to agree with your work. if are uncertain abt your work, i suggest you work on it again. it simply leads you back to my 1st point. you are unsure of your product so i suggest you not present it before you make a fool out of yourself.

3) Stand tall, stand smart, smile.

- dont go up to the front of the class in a sloppish manner... stand up straight (i think you look more fresh that way too!) and smart.. dont fidget.. its a sign of nervousness (argh! i still do fidget abit at time.. quite a bad habit)... take a deep breathe before you start and smile now and then. Its good to look pleasant when giving a presentation.

4) Be willing to take criticisms.

- No doubt you have to be confident of your own product but at times there are blind spots that we do no see (duh! its call a blind spot.. haha)... accept constructive criticisms with a gracious heart. If they are constructive criticisms, im sure your peers are not out to make things worst for you, they are simply trying to provide avenues for you to further explore. Seize them! you never know what greater ideas might come out.

5) You are not the best.

- So dont give me the crap like you take every piece of comments that your friends make as a piece of shit. you think your work is that great? if its THAT GREAT i dont think your friends will wanna question you this and that. accept it. something mux be wrong somewhere when majority of the people do not agree with something regarding your work. I have seen people's work being questioned left right top bottom center and that char bor INSIST on her way and found every possible reason to rebuke all comments arrowed at her. i mean we all meant well and we found something lacking in her work and hope she could relook into it. She refused to accept any comments. Is this the way we learn?

6) Dont give me crap stories.

- "oh.. this is just a rough idea of what i want to present actually.." " actually i didnt have much time to work on it.. so i hope you all can see what im trying to show" hey.. wats up with a slot set aside for presentation and you just have to explain to the whole world how busy you are thus unable to produce a satisfactory job? then might as well not present? Work within a given time line. If others can do it, I dont see why you cant.

7) Thank the audience after each presentation

- be nice. (marm's theory) muahah!

im not a guru at presentation too! haha.. im still learning and obviously there are tons more for me to learn.. haha.. i pick up skills from people around me and take note of shortfalls so that I do not make the same mistake again. Learn from each other. I think it makes life more enriching. =)
